1. Who we are

Vickers Law, PLLC ("Vickers Law," "we," "us") is a criminal defense law firm in Fargo, North Dakota. This policy explains what information we collect through our website, stormyvickerslaw.com, and through our client text-messaging program, and what we do with it.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. If you use the contact form on our website, call us, email us, or text us, we receive whatever you choose to share — typically your name, phone number, email address, and a description of your situation. Please do not send confidential details about a pending matter through the website contact form; it is not a secure channel and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Information collected automatically. Our website is hosted on Wix.com. Like most websites, it may record basic technical information about visits — such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and cookies used to keep the site working. Wix's own privacy practices are described in Wix's privacy policy.

Client information. If you become a client, we collect the information needed to represent you. That information is protected by the attorney-client privilege and our professional duty of confidentiality, which go well beyond this policy.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to respond to inquiries, to evaluate whether we can take a matter, to represent our clients, to schedule and communicate about appointments, court dates, and case developments, and to run the firm. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising to third parties.

4. Text messaging (SMS) program

If you have agreed to receive text messages from Vickers Law, we may text you about your matter — for example, appointment and court-date reminders, requests for documents or information, scheduling changes, and replies to questions you text us. We send these messages through Clio, our practice-management software provider, which delivers them on our behalf.

Consent. You give consent to receive text messages by providing your mobile number and agreeing to text communication, whether in writing at intake, verbally when you ask us to text you, or by texting our firm number first. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of hiring us.

Message frequency varies depending on activity in your matter.

Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from us. You may receive one final message confirming that you have opted out. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at (701) 365-4884 or stormyvickers@stormyvickerslaw.com.

No sharing of texting consent or mobile information. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of information described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Your consent to receive texts is an agreement solely between you and Vickers Law; it cannot be sold or transferred.

5. When we share information

We share personal information only as needed to run the firm and represent our clients: with service providers that host our website, store our files, and deliver our communications (such as Wix and Clio), who may use it only to provide services to us; with courts, opposing parties, experts, and others as necessary to represent a client and as permitted by the rules of professional conduct; and when required by law or court order. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared, as described in Section 4.

6. How we protect information

We use practice-management, document, and communication systems with industry-standard security, and we limit access to client information to firm staff who need it. No method of transmission over the internet or cellular networks is completely secure, and text messages in particular are not an encrypted channel. Please do not text us anything you would not want a third party to see; call or meet with us for sensitive discussions.

7. Your choices

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to stop texting you at any time. Information we are required to keep by law or by professional rules, including client files, may be retained even after such a request.

8. Children

Our website and text-messaging program are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them online.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top tells you when it was last revised. Continued use of our website or text-messaging program after a change means you accept the revised policy.
